What is Neutral Evaluation?

Neutral evaluation is a term used to describe a professional analysis of what the ultimate result of a lawsuit might be.  The neutral receives written submissions from both parties during the beginning stages of a lawsuit or arbitration, and then provides the parties with her evaluation of the strengths, weaknesses and dollar value of each party’s case. The neutral advises the parties about the merits of their respective cases and attempts to help the parties reach a settlement.
